Biography

Andrew Mogrelia studied at the Royal College of Music in London and later with the Boston Symphony in Tanglewood. He was music director of the San Francisco Ballet from 2003-2005 and conducted the company during their performance at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2004.

He has worked a great deal throughout the United Kingdom and has conducted in venues such as London’s Royal Festival Hall at Barbican Centre, Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall and Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

Maestro Mogrelia has conducted the Royal Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, BBC Scottish, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Scottish National, Ulster, the RTE Orchestra in Ireland, the City of London Sinfonia, Birmingham’s Contemporary Music Group, among others.

European engagements have included concerts with the Residentie Orchestra, Dutch Radio Symphony, the Noord Nederlands Orchestra in Holland, the Brno Philharmonic, Virtuosi di Praga, Slovak Philharmonic, and more. He often travels to Australia, where he conducts ballet performances.

He has an extensive discography available on the Naxos and Marco Polo labels.
